I want to dig in and tell you all about the news space, the upcoming classes and about all the additional great product we carry to make your home brew sessions a breeze. But first, I would like to re-introduce the story of how we got our fabulous name: Cap “N” Cork.
The History of Cap ‘N’ Cork
We’ve been asked how we got our name a lot lately and if there is an origin story. As it turns out, there is. Our story begins with British maritime trader. He specialized in trading to the Americas back in the early 1700s.
During his travels, he met a German smuggler, Herr Georg Boosenikel, who convinced him to sneak into Queen Anne’s cellar and steal a barrel of the royal family’s private reserve to take to the colonies. Unfortunately, for Cork, he sprung a leak as he was rolling the barrel onto is vessel and became the first person in history charged with alcohol abuse. He was hung from the gallows the very next day.
Boosenikel fled to the colonies and led an honest living as a libations maker and dealer by the name of Cap ‘N’ Cork, to honor his fallen friend.
On to the news of the move
The move has been something of a distraction. We are all moved in and are rather enamored by our new space. Many of you have already popped in for a visit to see how amazing it is. If you haven’t, we hope you have a really good excuse. With warmer weather (hopefully) around the corner, we all should be planning our summer brews and wine kits so we are well prepared to kick back with a refreshing beverage on a warm summer’s eve.
Home Brew Classes
Speaking of seminars, Chris White is only the beginning! With our brand new space comes a classroom perfect for meetings, classes and even tastings. We will soon offer a wide range of classes from beginner courses to more advanced curriculum.
We will focus mainly on Beer and Wine but have plans to address mead, cheese and perhaps vinegar. Classes tentatively planned to start in June. Personally, we can’t wait for the Cigars and Mustaches, A Retrospective taught by Professor Skip.
New Seasonal and Kits of the Month
This month we have brought back My Girl’s Beer. This delicious Strawberry Blonde Ale is the perfect beverage on a hot summer day. We also have the Midsummer’s Night Wheat available for a limited time.
The following are the beer and wine kits of the month which are, as always, 15% off:
Beer – Noble Pale Ale
Wine – Selection Luna Bianca
The May kits of the month will be More Than Meets The Rye and Selection Vieux Chataeu Du Roi.
