Hops Hops Hops

All hops are of U.S origin unless otherwise noted.

As of the week of September 6, 2010 this is our current hop inventory:

Ahtanum 5.2% (pellet) An aroma/flavoring hop variety that is similar to Cascade or Amarillo. It has a citrus and floral character with the addition of some piney or earth notes.  Low alpha acids make Ahtanum a good choice for a flavor addition when you do not want to impart quite the bitterness.

Amarillo  7.2% (pellet) Citrusy, flowery with hints of grapefruit.

Brewers Gold 9.7% (pellet) Bittering hop with neutral aroma characteristics.

Cascade  5% (pellet) 8.7% (leaf) Flowery and citrusy. Can have grapefruit flavor.

Centennial 8.5% (pellet) Medium with floral and citrus tones.

Challenger 7% UK (pellet) Mild to moderate, quite spicy.

Chinook OUT Mild to medium/heavy, spicy, piney and grapefruity.

Citra  12.3% (pellet)  A new, moderately-high acid cross between Hallertau Mittelfreuh, U.S. Tettnanger, Bavarian, Brewers Gold and E.K. Golding.  Very fruity and aromatic.  Used in Sierra Nevada Torpedo IPA and strong American and Belgian ales.

Cluster 7.9% (pellet) Smooth neutral bitterness. Medium alpha acids. Spicy flavor. An old standby. Even though it has been around for a while it may surprise you.

Columbus 14.2% (pellet) A high-alpha hop (finally!) that provides a neutral bitterness and an excellent aroma. The flavor and aroma are very pungent, so it is often used for late-addition hopping or dry-hopping. Great in IPA's. Flavor is slightly floral with some citrus notes

Fuggle  4.8% (pellet) Mild, pleasant, hoppy, and robust.

First Gold (U.K.) 8% (pellet) A little like Golding family; spicy.

Galena 10.1% (pellet) Medium but pleasant hoppiness and citrsusy.

Glacier 7.4% (pellet) 5.9% (leaf) Balanced bittering properties and good aroma profile. Good sub for Fuggle, Styrian Golding and Tettnang.

Hallertau 3% German (pellet) Very mild, pleasant and flowery. A classic noble hop.

Kent Golding 4.9% (pellet) U.K is gentle, fragrant and pleasant. US is mild and gently hoppy.

Mount Hood 5.2% (pellet) Aroma variety with similarities to the German Hallertau and Hersbrucker varieties, released in the US in 1989.  Used for aroma and flavor, American and German Ales/Lagers.

Millennium  15.9% (pellet) Very new, high alpha acid hop with a mild, herbal aroma similar to Nugget.  Primarily used for bittering and flavoring.

Northern Brewer 8.5% (pellet) Medium to strong with some wild tones.

Nugget 13.6% (pellet) Selected from a cross between Brewers Gold and a high alpha male.  Heavy, herbal and spicy aroma, extremely bitter.  Used for medium to dark Ales and Lagers.

Pacific Jade 13.3% New Zealand (pellet) Suited for use as a bittering or flavoring hop with a bold aroma that delivers a herbal infusion of fresh citrus and crushed black pepper.  Used as a finishing hop to temper malt sweetness in Ales or to balance dryer Lager styles when used as an "up-front" kettle addition to showcase its bittering qualities.

Palisade 6.7 % (pellet) A noble aroma with good bittering properties. Good sub for Perle and Tettnang.

Perle   7.5% (pellet)  Moderately intense, good and hoppy, fruity and a little spicy.

Saaz 2.8% Czech (pellet) Very mild with pleasant hoppy notes, earthy, spicy and herbal.
